WestCoast Alpine

WestCoast Alpine was an idea of both Robyn and Tyler in which we could write about our adventures skiing and snowboarding during the winter season here in the West Coast of British Columbia.

We will be talking about our days up on the various mountains such as Cypress and Whistler/Blackcomb. We will also look at various ski and snowboard gear as they hit the market to help keep people up to date with the latest treads and technologies.

If the local mountains here have events we will be sure to write about them as they happen or at least give some insight as to what is happening and where.

About Robyn

Hi, my name is Robyn and thanks for taking the time to stop by our website.  I have been a ski enthusiast ever since my first experience at Hyland Hills, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA on a girl scout trip in 1993.  I remember that day as being grueling and frustrating falling down on my skis, without poles, and getting hauled by the rope tow back up the bunny slope.

I was born and currently reside in Vancouver, British Columbia, however, I did live for almost 6 years in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA as a child, which is where I learned to ski.  My Mother, a Vancouverite, always wanted my brother and I to become skiers as she was always emphasizing and still does to this day that skiing is ‘a social sport’.   She was a skier herself and it’s no surprise that she enrolled my brother and I into lessons.

I am passionate about skiing and love being up in the mountains and spending time doing anything outdoors.   I work full-time as a Registered Nurse which is a means to pay for my ski addiction =)

For this 2008-2009 season Tyler and I have Cypress Mountain and Whistler Mountain passes and are hoping to get up the mountains as much as possible.  We are lucky to live in Southwestern British Columbia where we have so many available options of skiing so we hope to use this blog as getting a chance to talk about our experiences, gear, and skiing/riding here in BC and overseas.

About Tyler

Who is Tyler? Well I am sure there are people out there who know who I am but for those who do not know who I am I’ll try and sum it up. I am a web designer\developer and blogger (www.tyleringram.com) who has a new passion for snowboarding (many thanks to Robyn and her friends for making that possible). I am also very new to riding  and my only goal is to be able to be the best! Okay, perhaps not the best but I would like to keep up with our friends as they go screaming down the various ski runs all over BC.

Currently I am riding a Burton Baron which goes nicely with the Burton boots and bindings I also use. As I increase my skill and experience I am sure I’ll pick up another board or two as well as try out new bindings or other gear as it comes.
